images-5Last week I went shopping for my daughters and “SHAMEFUL” is the only word I can think of that describes how I felt. We were looking for modest bathing suits and mostly what we found were seductive, sheer, itty-bitty scant pieces of material called bathing suits. The girls wanted me to look at the tankinis, a modest top with board short style bottoms.  Well that was a joke in the many rows of these skimpy bikinis we found a few.

“Oh my” how are we to teach our daughters modesty when are whole world is consumed with exposing flesh? Look at the picture I posted with women covered up. Even to me it looks bizarre. It’s like the toad in boiling water. You put it in cold water and slowly turn it up and the toad doesn’t realize death is coming soon. How clever the enemy is.

Fifty, sixty years ago most women were covering up. Today woman are ripping off! Modesty is a thing of the past.Even in church, women are showing parts of their body that belong only to their husbands.  I have heard leaders say many times, “If a woman comes into church dressed immodest it could be her first time in church lets just love her.”  What about the many men she may cause to stumble and distract from their worship. Do we really think if God is going to reveal himself to her being offended will keep her from the truth.

So my question is, “do we take a chance and in a loving manner talk to the immodest woman, or do we say nothing and watch many men stumble? What are we doing to preserve the purity of the church. In other countries you are asked to wear something that covers your shoulders when entering their place of worship. Why in the church, the Bride Of Christ do we turn our heads and do nothing when some one has their sensual body parts on display?

Ladies maybe we really don’t say anything because our dress is not proper! Lets be honest and ask ourselves these questions,“Would I wear this if Jesus was next to me? “ Am I being an example to the young girls around me?  And lastly “Who am I trying to please the “flesh” or the “Spirit” As women of God lets cover up the flesh and reveal the Spirit to those around us. Let’s take a stand on “Modesty” and not get sucked into the worlds thinking. Lets teach our daughters to be godly not worldy

1 Timothy 2:9

“And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.”

I would encourage all women to read this verse many times, and ask the Spirit of God to reveal the things that need to change in your closet! You will be surprised, “I know I was!”
