Junk Yard Dogs

Today as I was going through my drawers  I found note about a priceless episode  involving my son Joshua. I have shared many stories about our boy Joshua. This boy is beautiful. He has amazing blue eyes that shine so brightly you’d swear they were jewels. His hair a sandy blonde and a smile that would melt any ones heart. He is strong, hard working, incredible athlete, selfless, and always going to the back of the line, letting others in front. This boy was found in a dismantled camper on a snowy cold winter day. He was surrounded by animal and human waste as flies covered him up. This was during a drug raid after his sister was literally ripped apart from her mother. It was only because of a Christian Sheriff who felt a gnawing inside of him that something was...

Born a Christian?

As a parent I never want my kids to think their salvation is an inheritance from Domingo and I. Recently I asked a young teenage boy how long has he been a Christian. His answer was heart wrenching. His reply was “since I was born” my family are believers. So I asked him “what do you mean?”  He confidently replied I was born into a Christian family.  I didn’t know this young man very well but I was told he has a godly family and his parents serve in church leadership.. Are parents so “busy being busy” they forget the most important thing to teach their children, “A child’s salvation is personal  between God and child. “Kids do not inherit their salvation from their parents”. How can a fifteen year old child not know this. This is horrifying simply...

Nasty Screen

Today as I was sitting in a hospital waiting room I was literally shocked! There was a television on the whole time we were in the waiting room. I would not consider myself naive to the things that go on in this world but today I realized “I Know Nothing.” Selfies is becoming a thing of the past, now women are taking pictures of their bottoms and sending them. (gross) Sex, lust, nudity, immorality, and homosexuallity seems to be the main topic on the morning shows. Now please understand this, we did not turn on the television it was on already at 6:00 in the morning. We were not watching but we could here every word, and so could the young kids in the room. Regrettably the parents never even flinched at what was being done and said on the nasty...

Love Hurts

Watching your children hit obstacles in their life can be a painful experience. As I watch my teenage boy suffer from the cruelty of the world I just want to draw him in and protect him. I Know I cant, he has to go through the fires so he can discover how to put them out. He has to hit bottom so he has nowhere to look but up. He has to see he will never make it in his own strength. As parents we want so much for our children to love God with all their hearts, soul, and might. Yet for many of us this desire seems like it may never happen when our kids become teenagers. I feel like I am playing “tug of war.” My husband and I are pulling the rope on one side and the enemy and his allies on the other. So many times we are loosing the battle, the enemy taunts...

“No Way Jose”

Being a woman is a wonderful blessing of God. Think about this we were created to be cared for. I am so thankful I was not born a man. I know there are many who might disagree with this but I would rather “follow then lead.” When I first became a Christian and read 1 Peter 3:I-6 “Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they see your respectful and pure conduct. 3 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very...
