Savor the moment
Today I was reminded of the beauty of a child’s smile. I go through life directing my kids and trying to lead them down the right path but many times I miss a moment. You know that special moment when your child displays a smile from the joy that is burning inside of them. You know the joy that is so infectious just spewing out of a child. I’ve encouraged so many women to “Savor the Moment”. Take a mental picture and keep it in the forefront of your mind and ponder on it and let that joy fill you up, let it be infectious.
For those of us who are foster or adoptive parents these moments are far and few between in the beginning. And what about having teenagers going through puberty and we no longer recognize our child. This is when we need to go back to those moments and remember the sweet times. Its like building credit in the bank we fill our minds up with good things, then when things are difficult we can take withdrawals.
Many of us believe we have to be a supermom and there is so much to get done. (and there is a lot to get done). But we need to stop, ponder, and breath in those special moments our children give us. Even Jesus rebuked his disciples when they were stopping people from bringing the children to him. Jesus always seemed to show special mercy and favor to the little ones. So once again savor those moments and select on them when you are having a bad day. Choose to see the good not the bad.
13 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.14 But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”
