Big Whooping

As I fumble through life many times I get so discouraged. I feel like I just can’t meet the expectations put on me.  I want so badly to be a soft spoken hero to my children. Instead when I talk it sounds like I use a megaphone, and why would they want to follow this kooky old woman! There are so many days I feel like a “Loony Tune.” I ask myself so many times “What kind of example am I being to my children?” Why doesn’t my brain ever go on “STOP” mode, why is it always going 100 miles per hour? Why do I feel guilty when I sit and do nothing? Do I really believe “Every need is my calling?”  Then I get on my knees and pray for God to multiply the hours in my day so I can get it all done. Then it happens “BAM” the big “WHOOPING”. God says “Hold your...

Silly Goose

A few weeks ago my husband and I were asleep when suddenly our youngest daughter Sari startled us. Just as I was going to ask “Whats wrong honey”?  my husband  grabbed her hand and asked, “Are you okay?”  Sari  looked at him so seriously and replied “Im looking at you daddy“, It was so matter of fact. My husbands response caused my heart to skip a beat as I thanked God for this man. His reply was, “What is a beautiful princess like you looking at an old toad like me.” Her angelic response was, “Silly goose  because your my Daddy and I love you”  It was such a tender moment between them. I could see the tears in his eyes. This little girl didn’t see a man who looked like a grandpa with his  silver...

Billy Bob

So many times as the mother of Special needs kids I have been baffled and confused. Recently as I was schooling my son I asked him a simple question. As he looked at me his beautiful blue eyes lit up and he quickly stood up with a smile that seemed to make him glow. This was for sure a “Kodak” moment. He answered my question and he was right on the button. I told his brothers and sisters to give him a hand and he proudly took a bow. He was pretty stinking cute!! I was reminded of Jesus and how he taught his disciples. Jesus knew scripture inside and out. Yet instead of choosing the Pharisee’s who were knowledgeable in the law whom did he choose? He chose uneducated “fishermen!” Instead of having theological conversations and debates he...

Giving Thanks

One of my favorite holidays is Thanksgiving. I love being in the kitchen cooking with my girls laughing and talking too them as we prepare a glorious meal. This year was not like that for me and my my girls at all. My girls pretty much kicked me out of the kitchen (nicely) and wanted to prepare the meal with out me. They wanted to take ownership and allow me to rest, on their part it was a kind deed but for me it was a valuable lesson Let me share my thoughts. How many of us really surrender completely. We go and pray and ask God to fill us with his Spirit then we think we are ready to go through are day.  We go to work, take care of our children, and then we go about the day and do what ever it is that needs to get done or what ever we have planned. We might...

“What I Do?”

Today I was reading a story about a twenty five year old man who was being beat up by three fourteen year olds. Apparently this man lived in the same complex and the boys would pick on him as he walked his sister to the bus. The boys would follow him, punch him, and knock him down. One day they punched him down and as he tried to get up they kicked him to keep him face down on the ground. As he lied on the ground crying saying the words “What I do, What I do” they continued to kick him and stomp on him. “Why, Why” is my question? How can three fourteen year olds have such wickedness in their hearts to be able to repeat this offense not once but many times. Sadly the little sister would witness these heinous and cruel acts towards her brother, who was just trying...

Two Dummies and a Bible

Today as I went into my closet to spend some “Alone Time” time with my Father in heaven I was reminded of the greatness and elegance of our Creator. He sits on his throne always waiting to hear from us his beloved children. As a mother of many nothing is more pleasing to me when my older kids come in my room ready to share their joy and pain of their day. Why do we think we have all the answers to life and forget to go to the one who gave us life. What picture does our Father see as he looks down on us. Who and what can compare to the knowledge of God. We go and seek answers from many but why don’t we seek him first. There are times when I am in a conversation and everyone gives all these humanistic solutions. Then someone will look at me and ask me what I...
