“Where’s My Cream”

This morning was a usual morning for me I woke up at 4:30 read scripture, news and then got out of bed at 5:00. As I walked down stairs to turn the coffee on I could hardly wait for my morning cup of coffee. There are days I want to go to bed early just so I can sip that first cup of coffee.  I have the coffee down to a science so that it tastes the same every morning including a special heavy cream. As I poured the dark brew in a new mug because my favorite mug just got broken. (that’s a whole other story) I could hardly wait to take that first sip. All you coffee drinkers I’m sure can relate. I go to the refrigerator to get my special cream to pour in my coffee and to my dismay it’s not on the top shelf.  I move everything around and still my cream is nowhere...

He did it, no she did it!

Having a house full of kids is truly a blessing there are many rewards but also a ton of calamities. Having mostly teens and soon to be teens in our home puts us in the middle of some very precarious situations. We are always trying to guess and understand the thinking mechanism in their head. We know there has to be a brain in there but how theirs works is truly a mystery to us.  Our kids do the most unbelievable things truthfully “I just don’t get it.” I feel at this point in my life I should be receiving a “Doctrine Degree in Criminal law” if there is such a thing. I know some might read this and laugh but for me this is a serious issue. I am exhausted at times trying to figure out who the guilty culprit is.  There are times when the verdict is “GUILTY” and I...

Chocolate Words

Today I was in my room cleaning when I heard my daughters arguing with one another. This seems to be such a common occurrence lately. Two daughters have just gone through puberty and three of them are two feet deep! I love my daughters they are so precious to me. But honestly I hate when my daughters struggle with the changes that occur during their adolescents . One day they are so sweet and kind and the next day you swear there is an alien inside them!! Well you’d think because I have gone through this with so many other daughters I would know how to handle this situation. After all I am a seasoned, skilled veteran. I have been parenting for almost forty-six years, I can handle, this no problem. I go down stairs and start my investigation now I am in the middle...

“No Way Jose”

Being a woman is a wonderful blessing of God. Think about this we were created to be cared for. I am so thankful I was not born a man. I know there are many who might disagree with this but I would rather “follow then lead.” When I first became a Christian and read 1 Peter 3:I-6 “Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they see your respectful and pure conduct. 3 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very...

Slow to Speak

As I have mentioned many times before parenting is no easy task. To this day I have not yet met a parent who has figured it out. I confess the older I get the harder it is to parent. My mind is not as sharp as it once was and I forget so many important facts like the names of my kids, what I was about to do next, and sadly the promises I have made. Just yesterday I was reading scripture and I came across James 1:19-20 “My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God’s sight” Man Oh Man was I convicted. I am in a hurry so many times to deal with an issue I don’t really hear all the facts then the idiom “I eat crow” really hits home! The other day I noticed my daughter carrying a...

My Helper

Today as I was praying I couldn’t help pondering on the Holy Spirit. What an amazing gift Jesus left us when he returned with his Father. He could of left us alone in this dark and crazy world but he didn’t. He left us with his glorious Spirit. In the book of John Jesus tells his disciples it was good for them that he leave so that the Spirit could come. Well today this was so vivid to me when I was praying. I was in my closet praying and worshipping when all of a sudden I messed up. While I was praising God with my words my old brain got stuck and my words became tangled. My words praised evil not the goodness of God. I felt like a dummy so I tried to unscramble my blunder but now my brain just refused to find the right words, it was in total rebellion. At first...
