How Great Is Our God

How great is our God   Today as I went into my closet to pray I had no words to speak. It’s not that my mind was blank on the contrary it was overloaded, full to the brim. I had a list of things I wanted to talk to God about. So as I sorted things out I was listening to a song by Chris Tomlin say over and over, “How great is our God.” It was then I realized sometimes I go to him and just dump. Here is this perfect God who loves me and enjoys our time together and all I do is talk about me like I am the most important being in the whole universe. I have to chuckle it reminded me of my kids when they come to me with things that make no sense to me. For instance the other day my daughter came up to me upset and almost in tears because she had done everything...

Big Whooping

As I fumble through life many times I get so discouraged. I feel like I just can’t meet the expectations put on me.  I want so badly to be a soft spoken hero to my children. Instead when I talk it sounds like I use a megaphone, and why would they want to follow this kooky old woman! There are so many days I feel like a “Loony Tune.” I ask myself so many times “What kind of example am I being to my children?” Why doesn’t my brain ever go on “STOP” mode, why is it always going 100 miles per hour? Why do I feel guilty when I sit and do nothing? Do I really believe “Every need is my calling?”  Then I get on my knees and pray for God to multiply the hours in my day so I can get it all done. Then it happens “BAM” the big “WHOOPING”. God says “Hold your...

Silly Goose

A few weeks ago my husband and I were asleep when suddenly our youngest daughter Sari startled us. Just as I was going to ask “Whats wrong honey”?  my husband  grabbed her hand and asked, “Are you okay?”  Sari  looked at him so seriously and replied “Im looking at you daddy“, It was so matter of fact. My husbands response caused my heart to skip a beat as I thanked God for this man. His reply was, “What is a beautiful princess like you looking at an old toad like me.” Her angelic response was, “Silly goose  because your my Daddy and I love you”  It was such a tender moment between them. I could see the tears in his eyes. This little girl didn’t see a man who looked like a grandpa with his  silver...

New Mercies Every Morning

As I was driving to work this morning I passed a sign that said “His mercies are new every morning” That was a wonderful thing for me to ponder on as I drove through a beautiful canyon watching a majestic sun rise. The pictures that my eyes were seeing all around me just shined the splendor of creation. I was extremely mesmerized watching  as the sun came up it wiped away all the darkness. The light was so bright that it literally hurt my eyes. WOW! was all that came to mind. What a beautiful illustration of how God wipes our sins away. Our God is that bright shining light that darkness can never over take, not even dim. When we confess our sins they are washed away and we become white as snow, then we see God’s mercies become new every morning....

Giving Thanks

One of my favorite holidays is Thanksgiving. I love being in the kitchen cooking with my girls laughing and talking too them as we prepare a glorious meal. This year was not like that for me and my my girls at all. My girls pretty much kicked me out of the kitchen (nicely) and wanted to prepare the meal with out me. They wanted to take ownership and allow me to rest, on their part it was a kind deed but for me it was a valuable lesson Let me share my thoughts. How many of us really surrender completely. We go and pray and ask God to fill us with his Spirit then we think we are ready to go through are day.  We go to work, take care of our children, and then we go about the day and do what ever it is that needs to get done or what ever we have planned. We might...

“Where’s My Cream”

This morning was a usual morning for me I woke up at 4:30 read scripture, news and then got out of bed at 5:00. As I walked down stairs to turn the coffee on I could hardly wait for my morning cup of coffee. There are days I want to go to bed early just so I can sip that first cup of coffee.  I have the coffee down to a science so that it tastes the same every morning including a special heavy cream. As I poured the dark brew in a new mug because my favorite mug just got broken. (that’s a whole other story) I could hardly wait to take that first sip. All you coffee drinkers I’m sure can relate. I go to the refrigerator to get my special cream to pour in my coffee and to my dismay it’s not on the top shelf.  I move everything around and still my cream is nowhere...
